Enjoy a live performance by the Megan Shug Ensemble on Friday, August 4 starting at 7:00pm. Join us for eclectic live music outside on the lawn behind Brand Library & Art Center. Visitors are welcome to bring a chair or blanket and picnic on the grassy hillsides in Brand Park. Seats are not provided. Performances run 60-90 minutes without intermission. Performances may be experienced by children and families.


Megan Shung is often described as 'the 21st Century violinist', is an international violinist, composer, producer, and educator based in Los Angeles, California. Adept at multiple genres and styles, she has performed/recorded with artists including Anthony Kiedis, Michael Bublé, Seal, Jhene Aiko, SEAL, Portugal the Man, Billy Childs, and Louis Cole. She is currently the lead violinist for Grammy-nominated composer David Arkenstone and the newest member of Acoustic Asylum, an LA-based folk/blues supergroup. In addition to being an active performer, Megan is also a passionate educator. Currently on the Suzuki and jazz faculty at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music (PCM). She has appeared as a guest clinician and speaker at institutes across the USA and internationally with a specialty in teaching improvisation to string players. In 2022, she co-founded The Wicked GOAT, a contemporary new music concert series at PCM, with a vision to cultivate a concert-going experience that engages young people. In 2023, she became the co-artist director of String Project Los Angeles a 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to foster the bowed strings teaching community while celebrating the musical and cultural diversity of the city of LA.
