Welcome to the exciting adventures of Dungeons and Dragons!Dungeons and Dragons or D&D is a table top role playing game that has been entertaining people through fantastical worlds, epic battles and collaborative storytelling for almost fifty years. With cameos in Stranger Things and the popularity of live play streams like Critical Role, D&D has become more popular than ever. If you’re curious what the hype is about or used to play but haven’t had a chance to jump into the latest edition of D&D, this session provides a low barrier way to learn about D&D Fifth edition.
We’ll make a character, and then use that character to run a quick and fun session where you can learn how to tell stories of high fantasy, battle, exploration and adventure. You don’t need anything except an open mind and positive attitude. All other materials will be provided.
All are welcome, whether this is your first time picking up dice or you’ve played before and want to join in. Our table welcomes everyone and we do our best to ensure that it's a safe and inclusive space. We support this goal by using safety tools like the X card as well as other tools to support everyone to have fun and feel safe. So if that sounds cool - I would love to get to know you at the gaming table over some great stories and funky dice !

About me - Hi my name is Ian Mathieson (he/him) and I love teaching people about the hobby of D&D. In 2015, I wanted to get back into D&D and role playing after years away from the hobby. I connected with some like minded friends, started a game and we haven’t looked back! Playing D&D and other table top role playing games (TTRPGs) has been such a privilege and a joy that I want to spread the hobby to new players! When I’m not playing D&D I’m working at local non-profit serving edmonton’s most vulnerable and hanging with my family and two dogs! I love travel, coffee, pastries and I have an educational background in anthropology, human rights and equity.
