About this Event
Trees: The Good, The Bad, The In-Between is the first workshop in our Branching Out: Cultivating Urban Canopies series—hosted as part of Social SaturnDaze, where we step away from screens and into real community connection.
Join us Friday, February 21st from 1:30–3:00 PM for an interactive tree stewardship workshop led by community arborist Kendall Topping, presenting on behalf of the Greening Infrastructure Center. Together, we’ll explore the full truth about urban trees: not just the beauty and benefits, but also the realities—who gets shade, who gets heat, and how tree equity shapes health, comfort, and quality of life in our neighborhoods.
This workshop will cover:
- The benefits of trees (cooling, air quality, stormwater, property value, wellness)
- The realities of urban tree systems (maintenance, safety, infrastructure conflicts)
- Tree equity—what it means, why it matters, and how it shows up in Petersburg
- Practical ways residents can support a healthier, more resilient neighborhood canopy
This gathering is donation-based. Your contribution helps us keep these learning spaces accessible and keep the Branching Out series growing for Petersburg.
