/kor/ productions is delighted to announce its first large-scale co-production of the 2021-22 season, Johannes Brahms’ Requiem on this December 3rd at Queen of the Apostles Church, in conjunction with Northeastern Illinois University’s Music Department, Queen of the Apostles Choirs, and Windy City Sings.The Brahms’ Requiem is an iconic musical work, one that combines the forces of a full choir and orchestra. It was the first non-liturgical work to turn the focus of the text from the dead to the living, and is Brahms’ longest work ever written.
Now, /kor/ productions has created a condensed concert version of this masterpiece, featuring the combined talents of both professional and volunteer musicians from all across Chicago. This massive community-building project will act as a memorial dedication for the thousands of victims lost to Covid-19.
Featuring NEIU student musicians, faculty and staff, as well as professional singers and volunteers from throughout the Chicagoland area, making what is sure to be an unbelievable evening of music. Soloists include bass-baritone Dave Govertsen and lyric-soprano Johanna Moffitt, and local Chicagoland favorites Stanley DeCiwikiel, Jesus Alfredo Jiminez-Jiminez, Nick Ward, and Stuart Thompson lend their incredible talents to our choir. /kor/ is honored to have NEIU Choir Conductor, Christopher Owens, leading these incredible musicians.
There will be a gourmet ‘meet & greet’ dessert reception downstairs in Queen of the Apostles’ gathering hall following the performance.
