"I’ve been wanting to get back to playing TRIO for years now. There’s just something about the space and openness of that format that inspires something different in my playing and writing, something essential to who I am as an artist, and something I need to spend more time exploring — and who better to explore that with than Lex and Alfred? I’ve ALSO been looking for any excuse whatsoever to play music again with my brilliant friend Sari Jordan, especially after witnessing her set at @maggiekoerner’s ‘Siren Song’ series during Jazz Fest. So, I decided — why not do both?? And that is exactly what you will hear next Thursday at Snug Harbor. We’ll open (and spend about half of) each set with music from this incredible trio, and the rest will be led by Sari and her uncompromisingly beautiful musical vision. I can’t wait, and can’t think of a better ‘last show’ of my own before I hit the road for the summer. Join us, won’t you? ?"
