Boy Meets Pearl are queer-fronted and oddly orchestrated. These "carousel punks" sound like a carnival midway and perform new, original songs that are reminiscent of sea shanties, circus waltzes and Victorian Music Hall singalongs.

Susan Hwang is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has toured internationally performing music and theater. She is the founder and director of The Bushwick Book Club, the joyous intersection of indie artists and book nerds. Besides solo performance she also plays in The Debutante Hour, John S. Hall's Dogfly Religion and Lusterlit (among others). Susan plays accordions because they are pretty and lighter than pianos (barely). She plays drums because it's healthy for a girl to hit things.

The Shipyard is a popup venue in Silver Spring with a donation door. Donations are split between the artists and Abodes Joy a MD-based nonprofit that trains and empowers diverse learners – women, nonbinary folx, and transgender people – in home repair to build skills, confidence, and community.
