Bourbon at the Border is a full-length play by Pearl Cleage that examines the lingering, unhealed trauma of the American Civil Rights Movement. The play centers on May and Charlie, a married couple living in a Detroit apartment who remain haunted by the extreme racial violence they survived during Mississippi's historic Freedom Summer in 1964.
