Bourbon 101 – In the Blind is the perfect class for those just getting into Bourbon or those looking to boost their BourbonIQ.
About this Event

Whether you're just getting into Bourbon or drinking it for a while, this class is the perfect way to boost your BourbonIQ and learn more about America's native spirit.

Enjoy sipping on three (3) samples of Bourbon in a double-blind tasting format while Certified Executive Bourbon Steward Patrick "Pops" Garrett, guides you through a comprehensive yet entertaining journey that explores what makes Bourbon unique among other whiskeys, key bourbon terminology, the art of barrel aging, and the role Bourbon has played in America's history.

We will ship Virtual Tasting Kit ticket holders a bourbon sample kit that will include the following:

  • (3) 1 oz samples of Bourbon*
  • (3) Tasting Cups
  • (1) Bourbon Flavor Wheel
  • (1) Tasting Mat

Note: At this time, virtual tasting kits can only be shipped within the United States. Please consider a BYOB ticket if you live outside of the United States.
bringing

Virtual Tasting BYOB ticket holders will not receive a tasting kit and will be responsible for bringing their bourbon of choice to the tasting class.

All attendees will receive a free copy of our Bourbon Flavor Wheel & Tasting Mat Template bundle after the class is completed. Attendees may use the templates when hosting their next Bourbon tasting with family and friends.

REGISTRATION NOTE: We will close registration for this class 2 weeks before the event date to allow the virtual sample kits to be shipped. Refunds will not be offered if your tasting kit has already shipped.

If you've already taken one of our Bourbon 101 classes before 2024, please note that this class contains similar content and samples.

*Samples are provided "blind" to remove label prejudice and help you focus on your senses.

TESTIMONIALS
  • What a great time with Pop!!! It was a fantastic blind tasting. If we cannot be there in person this was the next best way. Highly recommend!
  • Great class, whether you're a bourbon newbie or veteran. Pops did a fantastic job of being informative, engaging, and fun.
  • I really enjoyed the class. As a 45 year Scotch drinker and collector, I'm enjoying the last couple of years with my journey into Bourbons. It was informative, the presentation moved right along and I enjoyed the choices. One other thing that I enjoyed was the food pairing suggestions. That's right in my wheelhouse.
  • Great Class. Love the history and description on Bourbon and how made. Made it very simple to understand how the flavors are created. Definitely looking forward to really knowing what I am experiencing. #drinkcurious.
  • This class was a delight for anyone who likes bourbon. "Pops" has an easygoing manner and he took the mystery out of the tasting. Highly recommend this and any future offerings from Bourbon and Banter.
  • This was an awesome event. Pops is very knowledgeable, explains everything in an easy-to-understand way, and is very conversational. 5 stars!
  • Pops is a deliberate public speaker. Of course, he knows his subject(s), he addresses the audience clearly, and his humor is infectious. It was a very educational (not boring) presentation engaging others to participate (or not). One of the most informative and interesting events I've attended recently. I give Pops an A++!!!
  • Thank you for an awesome session. Even though I use to drink bourbon, I didn't have a clue of what I'm having until yesterday. It was very informative and able to get more on the industry while listening to the conversations. Thank you Bourbon and Banter. Thank you 'Pops', you are amazing!
