About this Event
Join Indy Reads, harpist and singer/songwriter Jen Midkiff, and author Callie J. Smith for this music and spoken word event reflecting on balance, boundaries, and authentic living. Smith will be reading from her Sacred Grounds novels, and Midkiff will be sharing original harp music and songs from her solo albums. Book and CD signing will follow.
This event is open to participants of all ages.
Proceeds from sales at Indy Reads support our English literacy programming for more than 400 adult learners each year.
Jen Midkiff is a singer/songwriter, harpist, music educator, and therapeutic musician based in Noblesville, Indiana. She has won the OVFF Pegasus Award twice for Best Performer, once in her band Wild Mercy, and once as a solo performer, and has also won a Pegasus for her song “Underfoot”, which is available on her latest album, Finding My Balance. You can find her music at www.jenmidkiff.bandcamp.com.
Callie J. Smith’s Sacred Grounds novels are a cozy coming-of-age-at-30 series featuring Kat Kent, a woman working at the Sacred Grounds Coffee Company while trying to simplify her life. Her life refuses to stay simple for long, though. In the first novel of the series – Kat’s Dreams (Clay Patin Press 2022) – the man Kat hoped never to see again returns to town, and she must decide how to take the next step in her #MeToo journey. More about each novel is available at: www.calliejsmith.net/books/.
Callie J. Smith is an author based in Noblesville, Indiana. Her essays have appeared in Bearings Online and the Abbey of the Arts blog. Her latest novel – The Joy of a Field (Clay Patin Press 2024) – continues the coming-of-age-at-30 series the Sacred Grounds Novels. Her work is online at www.calliejsmith.net.
