About this Event
We will also have the pleasure of the attendance of Dr. Mitchell Brin, SVP and Chief Scientific Officer of Neurotoxins (R&D, AbbVie) who is one of the pioneers and key developers of BOTOX, leading its research and clinical development since 1980s.
Abstract: The exponential growth of Botulinum Neurotoxins (BoNTs) for medical and aesthetic applications over the last few decades has led to a marked increase in the number of available BoNT products. As the popularity of neurotoxins increases, so are the challenges with respect to molecular architecture, intrinsic properties, pharmacological activity and manufacturing. This keynote is focused on tracing the birth and progress of neurotoxins, current challenges, and future opportunities.
Biography: Sathya has a PhD in “DARPin Folding and Stability” from University of Zurich, Switzerland and postdoc in “Molecular Chaperons Structure and Function” from Stanford University, CA. Since then, she has developed deep expertise in the discovery and development of several high-quality biologics across a range of therapeutic areas from working at Boehringer-Ingelheim, J&J, Amgen, and most recently, AbbVie. She has more than 15 years of experience in biologics R&D with multiple patents and publications and has successfully led efforts delivering bispecific for severe asthma, agonistic and antagonistic antibodies for ocular diseases, bispecific and cell therapy for prostate cancer and finally engineered neurotoxins for aesthetics and therapeutics indications.
