Bothwell Bicentenary will be held in 2022 to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the picturesque agricultural township of Bothwell in the Central Highlands of Tasmania.
We need your help - The festival committee is seeking tour guide volunteers, story tellers, and local historians to come onboard and help them to stage a wonderful festival and provide visitors with an exceptional experience while visiting our township during the Bicentenary event. We are looking for Bothwell stories, yarns, memorabilia, historical images, and people willing to be a part of the weekend as a storyteller, a human library book or a tour guide. If you are interested, please phone 6259 5503 or email – [email protected]
These days, Bothwell draws tourists to its beautifully preserved historical buildings, pleasant pastoral landscapes, trout fishing and the oldest golf course in the Southern Hemisphere ‘Ratho’. It's a quiet, peaceful area, powered by agriculture.
Tartan street signs reveal Bothwell's Scottish heritage, and the handsome town has more than 50 heritage-listed buildings.
Bothwell can be found on the A5, 20 kms from the Midland Highway, 50 mins from Hobart and 1 hr 45 minutes from Deloraine and Launceston.
The Bothwell Historical Society state the town was established in 1822.
