Both Sides of The Mask - Comedy and Tragedy: One Week Acting Intensive

xperience the full range of your craft by bringing both comedy and drama to the stage. Spend the week rehearsing, refining, and performing two contrasting scenes as you explore the unique demands of each genre in a collaborative rehearsal environment.
Rather than studying comedy and drama in isolation, you'll move between them throughout the week, discovering how rhythm, stakes, emotional truth, physicality, and character shift from one style to the other. Through rehearsal, coaching, and performance, you'll strengthen your versatility while developing two fully realized scenes for a live audience.
Throughout the week, you'll:
Rehearse and develop both a comedic and dramatic scene.
Explore the distinct demands of comedy and dramatic performance.
Strengthen character work, emotional accessibility, and physical expression.
Build greater versatility by moving between contrasting styles.
Refine two performances for the Comedy to Tragedy Studio Showcase.
The intensive culminates in the Comedy to Tragedy Studio Showcase, where you'll perform both a comedic and dramatic scene on the LACAE stage. You'll leave with two fully developed performances, a deeper appreciation for the demands of each genre, and greater confidence moving between comedy and drama as an actor.
