The FoBCA introduces six BRAND NEW guided botanical walk up the Renosterveld Trail on the eastern slopes of Blaauwberg Hill, with the view to introduce participants to the Critically Endangered Swartland Shale Renosterveld. Of all the veld types, Renosterveld is the richest in bulb species. Over six walks, watch as the trail explodes into colour. The short uphill trail of about 2km, is generally easy, bar for one short section of sand and two short steep slopes. The elevation gain is 100 m. The top of the Hill enjoys an astonishing 360 degree view of the landscape. The walk down is along the old Military Road. Duration from gate-to-gate is approximately 3 hours 30 minutes.
Access logistics require that the group enter and exit the site as a group. Once inside the Reserve, leaving early is not possible.
Booking is required. Participation is free for members of the FoBCA, otherwise the cost is R50 per participant(children under 18 free). Membership details https://bca.org.za/
