JOIN DOTTY BY DESIGN AT FOR BOTANICAL PRINTS
WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Use the sun and UV light to develop your own contact print photographs…..be at one with nature learning about this traditional photography technique known for it's deep prussian blue tones - Cyanotypes. This technique was first pioneered by the scientist Sir John Herschel in1842, and later grew in popularity among artists and photographers for it's versatile qualities.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS WORKSHOP?
During this introductory session you will create your own set of A5 and A4 paper prints.
Join Claire from Dotty by Design and learn about -
- Timings
- Light sources
- How to use surface objects to create a 'contact' print
- Collage
- Creating your own drawings on acetate
You will then prepare your print designs before developing on specialist (pre-coated) paper in the UV light. Once treated, the Cyanotype liquids will be washed out in water trays and hung up to dry ready for you to collect and take home.
You will create 1 x A4 print and 2/3 x A5 prints.
THE ALL IMPORTANT DETAILS
We will provide all the kit you need for this workshop: botanical inspiration, paper, pens, acetate and specialist coated paper. Come rain of shine we will harness the UV light to create your prints indoors or out!
The class will run for approx. 90 mins in Maida Vale.
