About this Event
This is an introduction to Eco-Printing on fabric and paper. You will learn a bit of background of the techniques of steaming silk scarves with foliage and Tatakizome (Japanese Flower Pounding ) on paper – with hammers. These are two basic ways of transferring the pigments and prints of foliage onto fabric or paper. We will discuss how these methods can bring you into deeper connection to Nature.
We will begin with discussion and then prepare our scarves for steaming. Steaming takes about 30 minutes. We will spend those 30 minutes making some gift tags by pounding pigments of flowers and leaves into the fibers of handmade paper - with a hammer. . The results are smashed flowers – yes. But the effect is similar to watercolor, not a photograph.
You can’t imagine the fun of making lots of noise, pounding and creating something beautiful to share. You will go home with a printed silk scarf and gift tags. How fun!!
Supplied: Hammer, 8”x72” Silk Scarf, handmade paper, glue sticks and lots of flowers and leaves.
Cost is $60
