About this Event
This International Women’s Day workshop invites participants to create tracing-paper collages that merge botanical forms with architectural structures, inspired by pioneering female architects and women botanists. Using translucency and layering, participants explore how organic and geometric elements reflect women’s strength, creativity, and resilience.
Female architects: Zaha Hadid, Lina Bo Bardi, Eileen Gray, Kazuyo Sejima and
so on.
Female botanists: Jane Colden (stamens and pistils), Marianne North (cocoa
tree, Nymphaea stellata), Agnes Arber (Cinnamon plant) , Katherine Esau
(sugar beetroot) and so on.
Structure:
1. Inspiration slideshow (female architects & botanists)
2. Demo: layering organic + geometric forms
3 .Guided collage creation
4.Sharing circle + optional exhibition wall
Duration: 1,5 h
Materials: Tracing paper, coloured pencils/markers, architectural and botanical photos, glue, scissors/knives, coloured paper, backing boards.
Outcomes:
Participants leave with a layered collage honouring the interplay of nature, design, and women’s contributions across disciplines.
