Beyond playing the legendary PAN label nights at Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin, she has made striking sound performance debuts at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris and Spazio Maiocchi in Milan. She has also performed at MoMA PS1’s Warm Up Series in New York, launched her Oroko Radio residency, and played at iconic venues such as Tate Modern in London, Yuyu Club in Mexico City, and The White Hotel in Manchester, among others.
Nunguja’s unique perspective and diverse experiences have profoundly shaped her sonic identity, infusing her work with a rich tapestry of cultural influences and an unmistakable sense of playfulness. VV Pete is emerging as one of the most distinctive and electrifying voices of Australia’s new wave of rap. The Sydney-based rapper and singer blends razor-sharp hooks, booming club beats and global dance influences into a sound built for international impact. Early comparisons to Missy Elliott, Ice Spice and Lizzo followed the worldwide breakout of her 2022 debut single Bussit, which entered rotation on legendary New York hip-hop station Hot 97. Alongside producer UTILITY, she delivered club anthems like Jordan 1s and Bacardi Papi, earned multiple Sydney Music Arts and Culture Awards (Song of the Year, Best Live Act, Next Big Thing), and marked major milestones including a Times Square billboard portrait, a New York Fashion Week runway appearance, touring Australia with Denzel Curry, and twice headlining the Sydney Opera House within a single year. At the creative helm is UTILITY, executive producer and creative director of Vv Pete’s debut mixtape VARVIE WORLD. His boundary-pushing work spans releasing music by experimental pioneer Alvin Lucier, collaborating with Kelman Duran (Beyoncé’s Renaissance), and producing 3badman, the first album ever recorded inside an Australian maximum-security prison.
