Explore the diverse habitats and scenery of Cathleen Stone Island
Set sail for an island adventure! Take the ferry to Cathleen Stone Island (formerly Thompson Island) for a fun-filled day of exploration and self-guided family-friendly activities. First, you and your family will enjoy a scenic ferry ride across Boston Harbor. Once on the island, meet the CEO and President, Sylvia Watts Mckinney and explore the diverse habitats and scenery of Cathleen Stone Island.
Please note that all swimming is prohibited on Cathleen Stone Island.
Cathleen Stone Island is managed by the Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound School, a 501c3 nonprofit organization connecting Boston students with free outdoor education that builds confidence, develops leadership, and helps young people unlock their potential. Learn more at
Know Before You Go
Please reserve ferry tickets here and refer to the Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound rules of conduct. Capacity is limited to 50 passengers.
The ferry will depart the EDIC Berth 10 dock in the Seaport at 9:00am. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. The ferry ride takes 30 minutes. This is a rain or shine event. Please note that some ferry guests may be outsodie for the duration of the ferry ride.
The ferry will depart the island promptly at 12:30pm. Once again, please arrive early for the departure.
