About this Event

Level 1 workshops are designed to help students prepare for Borosilicate Survey II.

Discover the magic of encasement in this level one borosilicate workshop, where students will learn to trap light and color within molten glass. Using synthetic Gilson opals, participants will explore the step-by-step process of suspending an opal within clear borosilicate—creating the illusion of a gem floating in space.

Students will learn.......

• Creating a safe, stable, and air-free encasement
• Learning the best flame to use to avoid burning the opals during and after encasement.
• How to prep your opal and your glass encasement for use inside a pendant
