About this Event
Urban landscapes and infrastructure dominate our everyday lives but since the COVID-19 pandemic and in light of recent research, we are increasingly looking to nature to promote good health both in our mind and bodies.
Back by popular demand, the Boroondara Wellbeing Conversations will kick off in 2024 with Dr Loretta Piccenna.
Come along to learn about the complex and dynamic wonders of nature and neuroscience.
About the speaker
Dr Loretta Piccenna from the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University is involved in Botany Brain Camp, a collaboration between Monash University and the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Developed by neuroscientist A/Prof Bridgette Semple, seed scientist Dr Meg Hirst and landscape architect, Georgia Warren, Botany Brain Bootcamp is an opportunity for people to put on some activewear and learn “Botany 101” while on a brisk walk around Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Topics include how much we really see in the plant world, the parts of the brain that control our visual content, movement, speech, thinking, emotions, and behaviours, and how can plants and garden design help us retrieve our memories and lower our stress levels.
