The perfect antidote to fast fashion, visible mending is all about giving clothing a new lease on life while turning everyday pieces into something beautiful and unique.
In this hands-on workshop, you'll explore traditional Japanese decorative stitching techniques used to mend, strengthen and embellish fabric. Discover how a simple repair can become a beautiful design feature, transforming well-loved clothing into something truly one of a kind.
We'll be working with recycled denim and vintage kimono fabrics, giving these beautiful textiles a second life.
You'll leave with a repaired item and/or a hand-stitched fabric square that can be used as a coaster or decorative mat. It also makes a lovely handmade gift!
What's included:
*All materials and equipment supplied
*Guidance in traditional Japanese-inspired stitching and visible mending techniques
*Recycled denim and vintage kimono fabrics to work with
*Your own handmade creation to take home
You're also welcome to bring along a piece of clothing you'd like to repair or some fabric you'd like to incorporate into your project.
Skill level: Suitable for beginner to intermediate sewists. No previous experience with visible mending is necessary.
Ages: All ages welcome from 15+ and anyone under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult
Min of 5 people to go ahead with this, otherwise we will cancel and refund.
