About this Event

Wednesday 05 June - Saturday 15 June,

MAMO Centre d'art de la Cité Radieuse de Marseille

We’re all fundamentally human, connected by the primal simplicity of blinking, the instinctual urge to scratch an itch and the basic need to sigh in frustration.

We, the current generation, have borne the socio-cultural and political behaviour of those who precede us, inheriting their discussions, privileges and responsibilities.

Alas, we share this inheritance with you!

All of us stand together today, nonchalantly gazing upon the world’s afflictions, fortunate enough to feel for the ‘other’, within our safe havens. While we cannot explicitly change the present, we can implicitly impact our future. The world can only be changed by those who are willing.

It is time we craft our own questions and use this inherited privilege as a site to house discussions, intervene and build an ethical future for ourselves and the generations that follow.

The Architectural Association Interprofessional Studio (AAIS) brings together an ensemble of artists who advocate for the creation of proactive intellectual work-nets and social capitals to positively impact the world.

We, the AAIS cohort of 23-24, invite you to witness OUR questions, as we position art to discover what empathy is, and what it can be for US, and for those born later. We urge you to recognise that yesterday’s understanding of compassion and privilege needs to be acknowledged and regarded, however not hung onto.

Initially showcased at Shoreditch Arts Club in London, this series of interdisciplinary performative events will next be featured at the MAMO Centre d’art de la Cité Radieuse de Marseille, an icon of avant-garde, contemporary art.

Consider this our invitation, to come and witness us take matters into our own hands.
