Born Global's High School Mini-Forest Summer Design Co-opetition
About this Event
Hosted by the Born Global Foundation, high school students to a half-day event on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, at Boston Public Library (700 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02116), to design a Miyawaki forest in their local community (students may also participate virtually if they cannot show up in-person on the 11th).
A Miyawaki forest is a dense mini-forest (typically ~2,000 sq ft), composed of a variety of native species, that is intended to be planted in urban areas to restore biodiversity, mitigate urban heat islands, reduce stormwater runoff and flood risk, and sequester carbon.
In this co-opetition student teams will use GIS mapping tools, primary, and secondary research to identify, analyze, and propose new Miyawaki forests in their city.
Winners receive free and discounted pathways into Born Global's $2,700 summer Scroll of Vision program:
PRIZES:

2nd Place - 50% off Scroll of Vision Program
3rd Place - 25% off Scroll of Vision Program
