ABOUT BUDA BXL & BORDER BUDA
Buda Bxl is one of Border Buda’s most important partners in the area. They’ve been in Buda for more than 20 years, occupying the former Eternit factory building. Buda Bxl hosts concerts, raves, performances and exhibitions. Needles to say, Border Buda wanted to organise a night at this venue on the border between Flanders and Brussels.
For Border Buda, Buda Bxl invited visual artists Nico Neefs & Colas Fiszman to create Collective Synesthesia, a collaborative monumental light installation. Comprising over 16,000 light points, the piece transforms Buda Bxl’s facade into a sprawling canvas of light and colour. Inspired by the idea of creating an organic and shared experience, the installation becomes a dynamic platform for experimentation, fostering collective exploration of light and digital technologies. By blurring the border between localities, it fosters connections and collaboration. In 2024, the artists will launch a series of workshops, inviting international artists and experts to facilitate exchanges among artists from diverse backgrounds and to introduce participants to cutting-edge digital art technologies.
Collective Synesthesia will be inaugurated during the opening night!
ABOUT BRIKABRAK
Since its founding in 2017, Brikabrak has been a keystone in Brussels nightlife for innovative dj’s, alternative clubbing experiences and open-minded music enthusiasts.
The 11-headed collective (consisting of Bona Léa, Fahad Seriki, Jiem, Monicashflow o’simmie, Ravi Bongo, Torito22, Yooth and a management team) has since blossomed into a nationwide community of artists and audiences, united in a borderless, genre-bending musical movement.
Over the past years Brikabrak built up a niche that celebrates a wide range of talents, championing futuristic, percussive, bass-heavy sounds. The crew's relentless energy and pulsating rhythms makes them a perfect conducter for dancefloors, igniting frenzies of movement and creating an electric atmosphere. Powered by an inclusive ethos, the crew wants to facilitate a warm space for a variety of people.
From collaborating with the likes of Dour, Listen! Festival, and VICE to booking pioneers like DJ Lag, VHOOR and Scratcha DVA, Brikabrak’s growth has been organic and intentional.
This playful bunch can’t wait to guide you through their orchestrated chaos.
ABOUT BORDER BUDA
Border Buda is a cultural project focusing on the Buda area, an industrial zone spanning Machelen, Vilvoorde and Brussels. The exhibition is the outcome of the first phase of the three-year project, focusing on artistic interventions in the public domain centered on the transport axes that run through Buda, as well as its history and heritage.
