About this Event
In 1951, Louis Vialard was 32 years old and the owner of Château Cissac – an incredibly prestigious Cru Bourgeois (Haut-Médoc) in the 1932 classification. His plan was both ambitious and pioneering: to launch his wines into the English market. In a daring move he settled in London, incorporated a commercial enterprise under British law and spent the rest of his life travelling tirelessly between his vineyard and the British Isles.
He was one of the first advocates of sustainable viticulture, constantly striving for excellence – not least on his own estate. The early success in marketing Château Cissac led Louis to explore every corner of the terroir in search of the best French vineyards, and their wines, for his friends in London to enjoy. Several years later, he established the Louis Vialard company – wine merchants in Bordeaux since 1969 - in order to increase his supply of fine wines and expand their distribution to other markets across the world.
Today, they represent over 5000 labels, of which 90% are Grand Crus. The Vialard Family has held a reputation for some of the most sought after wines in Bordeaux.
We are incredibly honored for the opportunity to host Olivier Hauet from Maison Louis Vialard to guide us through a four-course wine dinner paired with some of the company's most impressive Bordeaux wines.

The Wines
Château de Sales, Pomerol, 2019
The largest estate in the Pomerol appellation of the Right Bank of Bordeaux with 200 acres of total vineyard surface area (116 acres under vine avg 30 year old), Château de Sales is the only true château building in the appellation and has been owned by the same family more than five hundred years!
Villa Estuaire, Pauillac, 2019
Villa Estuaire is a tiny 3.5 acre site near the prestigious village of Pauillac (which is closer to the estuary of the Gironde than the city of Bordeaux). The rounded low hilltops of gravel and clay face the estuary with a S-E exposure and this “show-piece” “garden” estate is planted with 75% cabernet and 25% merlot.
Château Cissac, Cru Bourgeois Haut Médoc, 2010
Château Cissac is located between the two municipalities of Saint Estèphe and Pauillac in the village of the same name. The château is located in the Haut-Médoc region and is therefore classified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur. The château was purchased by Louis Vialard in 1940, and Marie Vialard has been managing the estate for several years. The wines from Château Cissac stand for elegance, balance and drinking pleasure.
The vineyards are covered with fine gravel over limestone and planted with the grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This Cru Bourgeois is located in the very north of the Haut-Médoc in the immediate vicinity of the prominent Château Mouton-Rothschild.
