Join us for the "Boots on the Ground for Art" exhibit at the VA Portland campus' Auditorium, on May 20, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.As part of the VA Portland’s Recreational Therapy Program, the Oregon Society of Artists (OSA) provides weekly classes to Veterans at no charge via both in-persona and online courses by classically trained art instructors. The program is a welcoming, safe community for all those who participate.
The VA Portland Health Care System utilizes Veteran-created artwork as one form of therapy to address PTSD, trauma, and recovery. Veterans from all branches of the military are welcome to participate.
According to OSA staff, it has been a dream of theirs to be able to display art from their veteran’s art class at a veteran-focused facility. OSA has also featured artwork created by Veterans every November, coinciding with Veteran’s Day.
