Did somebody say prohibition? Did someone say bootlegging? Anyone say dancing and jazz tunes at The History Museum & Research Center? Mark your calendars for our annual Jazz Night event presenting the Bootlegger Ball! Secretly hosted in our Ozark Club event room (don't tell the Bureau of Prohibition!) at 6:oopm on October 25, 2025.
There will be a specialty cocktail for the event (don’t worry, we aren’t using bathtub gin!) and a great dinner menu (also being kept under wraps). This fun 1920s era event includes a costume contest – make sure you’re following us on social media for inspiration from our collection! There will even be photo opportunities (photo booth style) with our period appropriate Model T car. But don’t let a lack of a costume keep you from coming to hear the John Gemberling Jazz Combo. This six-person band will dazzle you with their jazz music.
Additionally, there will be a silent auction with a great collection of items. You can also encourage your business or businesses you patronize to consider sponsoring a table at the event, which will provide advertising perks for the business. Potential sponsors can reach out to the museum director, Connie Constan, if they are interested in sponsoring a table or supporting the Bootlegger Ball in other ways.
To get yourself in the mood, stop by the museum and see the Spirits of Cascade County: Bootlegging, Bureaucracy, and Breweries exhibition. Also, keep an eye out for more Prohibition Era themed content on our blog and local media. Member ticket sales ($65) open September 29 and non-member ticket sales ($80) open October 6. Buy your tickets early so you can get the password for the entry door! Don’t miss your chance to attend. We only want to smuggle in the booze, not the guests!
