About this Event
BOOMBOX is back [SAT.10/4] with another special "VINYL EDITION" featuring a rare vinyl x MPC set from the legend EXILE + Sacramento heavy-hitters DJ EPIK & DJ SAURUS + a vinyl market curated by Beat Swap Meet!!
Iconic Los Angeles producer/DJ EXILE has had quite a career. He burst on the scene in the mid 90s as 1/2 of Emanon with Aloe Blacc. Then in 2007 he released the seminal independent hip hop classic "Below The Heavens" with San Pedro's finest, Blu (hosting the release party for that album is one of our proudest moments). Since then he's gone on to release 4 more albums with Blu, multiple albums with Fashawn, and a plethora of solo instrumental projects, all while producing tracks for the likes of Mobb Deep, Jurassic 5, Snoop Dogg, Pharoahe Monch, and Freestyle Fellowship. We're hyped to welcome the Dirty Scientist back to our stage for a rare vinyl set + a brand new MPC routine!
While this may be DJ EPIK's Boombox debut, he's far from new to the game. A 30-year DJ/producer veteran hailing from Sacramento, his deep crates and production prowess have elevated him to legend status in our state's capital. He's produced joints for the likes of Mos Def, Mac Dre, and Spice 1 & MC Eiht, while also co-founding the SAC chapter of Motown On Mondays, frequently gracing the decks at Dante's HiFi in Miami, and gaining popularity worldwide with his vinyl twitch streams. All those accomplishments earned him a highly coveted invite to the 2025 edition of DJ Jazzy Jeff's "Playlist Retreat"! We're super excited for the Boombox debut of a Sactown legend!
Our brother DJ SAURUS has been holding it down in the Bay for years. Originally from Oakland, he started DJing at the age of 11 and hasn't looked back. From house parties, to mobile gigs, to stages all over the Bay Area...his sets showcase why the name of his "Heavyweight Crates" crew is so appropriate. If his set is anything like the one he dropped on us last year, he's about to shut it down!
All that turntable goodness + a full-on vinyl market curated by Beat Swap Meet = an evening of analog bliss! Cop DISCOUNT PRESALE TICKETS now. Let's gooo, Los Angeles!

Since September 2nd, 2006, Boombox has provided a home for Los Angeles hip hop lovers to gather every first Saturday of the month and celebrate the genre’s most respected DJs and producers. Celebrating their 15-year anniversary in 2021, they’ve gained a faithful following of music aficionados who all share one common trait: the love of hip hop culture.
Residents Inka One, Ben Diggin, Analog, and Mantron have created a signature sound and energy that is authentic, inclusive, and fiercely committed to promoting the culture and artistry of hip hop. For the past 18 years, Boombox has given Los Angeles a home for hip hop connoisseurs who understand the importance of the DJ. Since its inception, their mission has remained pure: to provide an honest hip hop/DJ-centric night that caters to the working-class crowd. No frills, no shiny aesthetics; just the music and DJ skills speaking for themselves.
Boombox has made an indelible impact on Los Angeles’ rich music culture and has helped introduce audiences to some of Los Angeles’ finest, such as Flying Lotus and Blu, while simultaneously giving Angelinos an opportunity to catch hip hop legends like Pete Rock, DJ Quik, Ali Shaheed Muhammed, 9th Wonder, Marley Marl, Stretch & Bobbito, Mix Master Mike, & countless others. Boombox is a destination for the world’s best hip hop DJs to come play the music they love; it’s as simple as that.
In a time fraught with division, Boombox stands tall as a Los Angeles staple where old friends unite, where new ones are made, and where all are welcomed and invited to experience a special night where the hip hop DJ shines.
