About this Event
Join Books & Books and Salsa Z for a community dinner where you don’t have to compete with loud speakers to flirt with your dance partner. Hosted by James Beard-award-winning food critic Carlos Frías, we will guide you through three courses of Puerto Rican dishes made by B&B’s Chef Papo Santiago. You’ll get to connect with Salsa Z members in a more intimate setting. After dinner, Salsa Z’s resident DJ Safe Staddick will spin some boogaloo, salsa and rumba in the bookstore.
Ticket Options:
$85 per person plus tax and a 20% gratuity – includes a three-course meal.
$105 per person plus tax and a 20% gratuity – includes a three-course meal with as much sangria as you want.
About Salsa Z
Salsa Z was created to pull our Gen Z friends onto the dance floor when salsa comes on. If your friends are too intimidated by a studio in Little Havana, you can bring them to Salsa Z in Little Haiti. Since early 2025, Salsa Z has hosted monthly Latin music events at venues like ZeyZey and Vizcaya for hundreds of guests of all ages. What started as a social club for Gen Z has grown into an intergenerational movement across Miami that is helping people let go of their pena to dance.
About Carlos Frías
Carlos Frías is a journalist, author and James Beard Award-winning food writer, born and raised in Miami. He was the Miami Herald food editor and host of the arts-and-culture public radio show Sundial, where Salsa Z founder Elisa Baena was a producer.
