About the book:

From the New York Times bestselling duo of award-winning author Ann Patchett and Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser comes a special story about Estie and Ivan Vert, one an extrovert, one an introvert, two siblings who learn to celebrate and honor their differences.

“Ivan is Ivan, and Estie is Estie,” says Mr. Vert. “Which is just the way we like it.”

The Vert family is celebrating a very special occasion: It’s Ivan’s birthday! Estie knows that every birthday needs a great party, and that mean tons of guests from the building…and party hats…and twinkling tin foil stars, because that’s what everyone wants on their birthday, right?

But did she ever ask Ivan? It seems that is not what Ivan wanted at all. This sister-and-brother bond is honest and real and touching, as each comes to learn what makes the other person most comfortable.
