About the book:

In this stylish and provocative debut novel, a young painter attempts to make a life in New York City as an artist, a good immigrant daughter, and soon (maybe) a wife—until her smooth-talking art-critic ex resurfaces, and an inevitable mess ensues. Mira Jacob (The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing) calls Good News a "punchy critique of high art, and a revealing look at what it takes to find yourself as a young artist. Women are the driving force of this richly realized story.”

About the author:

Alexa Yasemin Brahme is a writer from southern California. She received her
MFA in fiction from The New School. Her work has been nominated for a
Pushcart Prize, the Robert J. Dau PEN Award, and Best of the Net. She
currently lives in Brooklyn, where she is a bookseller at Books Are Magic. GOOD NEWS is her first novel.

About the moderator:

Dalia Azim’s writing has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, American Short Fiction, Aperture, Poets & Writers, Glimmer Train, and Other Voices, among other places. Her first novel, Country of Origin, was published in 2022. She is the Texas Book Festival’s COO.

By purchasing a book from BookPeople, you are not only supporting a local, independent business – you’re showing publishers that they should continue sending authors to BookPeople.

Thank you for supporting Alexa Yasemin Brahme, Dalia Azim, and your local independent bookstore!
