Bookmaking: The Coptic Bind w/ Midnight Moon Studio

During this class, participants will learn how to bind their own journal using the Coptic bookbinding method. The Coptic bind is one of the oldest bookmaking processes and creates a securely bound journal or sketchbook with an exposed spine.

Hannah Davis is a teaching artist from Richmond, Virginia. She is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art where she received an MFA in Curatorial Practice. She also holds a B.A. in Arts Administration and Mass & Digital Communication (double major) from the University of Kentucky. Hannah produces work across a variety of mediums, though she works most predominantly with photography, printmaking, and bookmaking. She owns Midnight Moon Studio, which offers a curated selection of linocut prints, 35mm photography prints, and handmade journals + sketchbooks. Hannah is also an Art Teacher in Richmond, teaching introductory art courses along with advanced crafts courses at the high school level.
