Bookertown Community CERT Training

The Seminole County CERT program looks to train Seminole County residents to assist in preparing for disaster response and recovery efforts. So far in Seminole County we have established teams in Longwood, East Altamonte, Midway, Sanford/Goldsborough and the Palm Valley communities, and are currently looking to establish a team in the Bookertown area. Attendees learn critical skills such as disaster first aid, fire safety, disaster mental health, and other response capabilities.

This is a free 5-week training program where attendees meet 1 time a week to receive a 2-hour training on modules. After attendee’s complete all trainings modules they will receive a free CERT backpack with supplies that help them assist with disaster response. Attendees must attend ALL classes to recieve disaster response material.

Once attendees complete the training, they will recieve a disaster response kit and become a part of the greater network of CERT volunteers that can assist the Seminole County community in the event of a disaster. CERT members are integral in participating in Seminole County trianing and exercises, as well as other public facing events.

Info: Learn how to prepare yourself, family, and community members in the event of a disaster. Understand what you can do as a CERT member to help your community be prepared for all hazards our communities may face her in Seminole County. Participants will also learn how CERT is structured and its role in disaster response and recovery.

Info: Learn how to provide life saving and critical first aid, taught by our local Fire Department and EMS staff in the field.

Info: Understand how local law enforcements work together with our communities and federal government agencies to ensure your safety and overall domestic security. Participants will also learn about the impacts that disasters can have on their own mental health and others.

Info: Learn basic fire safety and light search and rescue techniques to assist those in danger. Learn about fire prevention strategies and the role CERT has in fire safety.

Info: Attendees will complete a post test. Once completed, attendees will receive disaster response kits and shirts.
