Bookbinding: Telling Stories through Concept and Making
Workshop with Sauda Mitchell
Saturday, October 9, 1-3 pm
$50 per student (non-member fee), $40 per student (member fee )
Classes meet at the Museum's Beet Classroom at 201 E 5th Street
Ages 16 and older
This workshop focuses on bookmaking as an artform. Utilizing materials, basic tools and techniques participants will actively explore the book making processes. Through hands-on demonstration, participants will create and construct their own artist book!
Bookbinding techniques that will be explored:
Simple Stab Binding
Accordion Fold
Flag Book
Sauda Mitchell is a printmaker, archivist, and educator from Winston-Salem, NC. She holds an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education from the University of Phoenix, a B.A. in Communication Art with a minor in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design, a Master’s in Library and Information Science with a concentration in Archival Studies from Drexel University, and is certified by the Academy of Certified Archivists. She currently serves as the SCAD Jen Library Archives and Special Collections Librarian at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
