Deborah Jiang-Stein is an award-winning writer, public speaker, activist, and founder of the unPrison Project, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering and inspiring incarcerated women and girls with life skills, mentoring, and support for successful reentry into society. She was born in a federal Pr*son to a mother serving time, spent her early years in foster care, and later turned her life experiences into powerful storytelling and advocacy work. Deborah is the author of Lucky Tomorrow, her debut short-story collection that explores resilience, belonging, and the humanity of people living on society's margins.
Through her writing and speaking, she shines a light on overlooked lives and builds empathy, while her nonprofit work fosters literacy, critical thinking, and hope.
