Join us for an unforgettable evening with Minneapolis Club Member Dr. Bruce P. Gleason, a former euphonium player with the 298th U.S. Army Band, for a special book talk and signing in the Library. Dr. Gleason will discuss his captivating new memoir, Cold War Cadence: A Military Musician's Berlin Memoir, 1988–1991 (Calumet Editions, 2024), which offers a unique glimpse into both the Cold War era and the rich cultural landscape of Berlin at a pivotal time in history.

Meet the Author:
Dr. Bruce Gleason is a professor of music history and music education at the University of St. Thomas. His first book, Sound the Trumpet, Beat the Drums: Horse-Mounted Bands of the U.S Army, 1820 — 1940 was published by the University of Oklahoma Press in 2016, and along with publishing over fifty articles in music education and music history, he has spent the past 40 years researching the history of military music around the world.

Following the talk, Dr. Gleason will be available to sign copies of Cold War Cadence, available for purchase at the event from Next Chapter Booksellers, the largest independent bookstore in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
