About this Event
On April 22, we invite you to a book presentation of The Biological Composition of a Drop of Seawater Is Reminiscent of the Blood in My Veins, By Kim Simonsen.
In his recent book, Kim Simonsen asks: "What is the philosophy of fish? Do trees remember us as we were as children? Do fungi care for us?" The work unfolds as a lyrical and philosophical exploration of the sea as origin, as element, and as a space where life and death are inseparable. Around the sea, a multiplicity of living beings gathers-birds, insects, bacteria, fungi, and viruses-forming a dense, shifting ecology in which human life is only one among many.
The book reflects on grief, especially the loss of the father, and explores how life after death may be spoken of through the intertwined experiences of loss and love. Moving between literature, medical science, and Greek mythology, Simonsen traces the invisible connections that bind us to what lies beyond perception.
We hope to see you at the Danish Academy in Rome the 22nd of April at 6pm.
