Maxim Matusevich was born and raised in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), he emigrated to the United States in 1991 as the Soviet Union collapsed. He is a Professor of History and Department Chair at Seton Hall University. In addition to his academic work, Matusevich writes fiction, with works published in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries, including literary magazines like The Kenyon Review, New England Review, and Fatal Flaw Literary Magazine. Six Trains of No Return, his debut collection, features twelve stories exploring immigrant lives, beloved memories, and the intersection of personal experience with larger historical forces..
Pavel Lembersky was born in Odesa, Ukraine, and emigrated to the United States in 1977. He worked in New York City on film projects by Jonathan Demme and Spalding Gray, as well as the Oscar-winning The Appointments of Dennis Jennings. Lembersky authored various story collections and novels. His work has been translated into English, German, Finnish, and Vietnamese, and has appeared in literary magazines such as Words Without Borders, The Brooklyn Rail, Trafica Europe, Fiction International, Novy Mir, Teatr, Colta, etc. Pavel's short story collection Fluss No. 7 was published in Frankfurt, and his book Twenty-Five Odesa Stories came out in Kyiv in April 2024. Pavel Lembersky's debut novel, in English, Two Hundred Brand New Shiny Cadillacs, was published by Academic Studies Press, 2025.
