Nishant Jain, also known as The Sneaky Artist, is an artist, writer, and former neuroscience student who left his PhD program to pursue a more meaningful path: telling stories through pen, page, and public space.

Jain’s distinctive practice of “sneaky sketching” (drawing strangers in real time without intruding or interrupting) began as an experiment during a bout of writer’s block and has since evolved into a global invitation to look closer. His work celebrates fleeting moments, unnoticed gestures, and the quiet theatre of everyday life.

Through his , , , and active presence on social media, Nishant has built a global community around the idea that art can be small, imperfect, and immediate, but still profound. His fans, ranging from aspiring artists to seasoned observers, are drawn to his gentle philosophy: reclaim attention, draw the world as you see it, and let the act of noticing become its own reward.

Now based in Vancouver, Nishant’s personal story, from Kolkata to academia to sketching alleyways and train rides, underpins his ethos: art is a way of living curiously, not a performance of perfection.

His new book, Make (Sneaky) Art, is a beautifully designed manifesto for anyone who wants to sketch, see, and remember the world around them. With warmth and irreverence, he invites readers to build their own sketchbook habit, one line at a time.
