Join us for an evening celebrating the release of by acclaimed journalist and filmmaker Francine Pelletier.
Pelletier’s new book offers a mesmerizing blend of memoir and political analysis, tracing how Quebec’s inclusive civic nationalism — championed by René Lévesque — evolved into the more restrictive, values-driven nationalism of today. Drawing on her decades of reporting and her acclaimed documentary Battle for Québec’s Soul, Pelletier brings sharp insight and personal reflection to one of Canada’s most enduring political stories.
With wit, clarity, and courage, Dream Interrupted challenges us to reconsider what it means to be a “good Quebecer” in an era of resurgent identity politics — and what that means for Canada as a whole.

Francine Pelletier is a Montreal-based journalist and documentary filmmaker. She is the founder of the feminist newspaper La Vie en Rose and has written for La Presse, Le Devoir, and the Montreal Gazette.
