Join us for the launch of Governor General’s Award-winning Métis artist David Garneau's Dark Chapters: Reading The Still Lives of David Garneau (March 25th, 2025). The book brings together responses from some of Canada’s foremost thinkers and artists to Garneau's still life paintings which serve as a spark for personal narrative and reflection on questions of decolonization, allyship, representation, art making, and history. The beautiful MacKenzie Gallery's Shumiatcher theater will host luminaries Fred Wah, Paul Seesequasis, Rita Bouvier, Larissa Lai, Jeff Derksen, Tarene Thomas, Dick Averns, Peter Morin, Trevor Herriot, John Hampton, David Howes, Nic Wilson, Arin Fay, and, of course, David Garneau.
The event is free and open to the public but RSVP will be required. Light refreshments will be served, a cash bar will be available, and books will be sold by the University of Regina Press. David Garneau will be pleased to sign your copy! Don't miss out on what promises to be a night to remember!
