Book Launch Celebration: The Spirit of Fearless Living by Author Kao Choua Vue

Join author Kao Choua Vue as she debuts her memoir based on interviews with her mother, The Spirit of Fearless Living: A Hmong Journey Through War and Refuge, at XIA Books and Cafe in St. Paul. This gripping tale follows Mee Thao through Laos to Thailand to the US, from childhood to motherhood.
Pa Der Vang, editor of Staring Down the Tiger, writes: "The Spirit of Fearless Living captures the often overlooked experiences of Hmong women during the Secret War in Laos and their subsequent migration and resettlement. Through one woman’s personal story, the book brings to life the courage, resilience, family responsibilities, cultural traditions, and hardships that shaped the lives of Hmong women during war and displacement. It is an important and deeply human story that invites all readers to better understand the experiences of Hmong women while reflecting on themes of survival, identity, family, and hope."
