The New York Times journalist Carlos Barragán launches his debut The Yahoo Boys, a New York Times Most Anticipated Nonfiction Book of 2026! Born out of Barragán's personal experience, and grounded in his extensive reporting in Lagos, The Yahoo Boys is the story of four young men struggling to get by in one of the world’s most unequal cities, and their victims on the other side of the globe. It's a story of online crime, Global South poverty, and the Western loneliness that powers the romance scam industry, with incredible humanity for the figures on both sides of the con.
