To celebrate the publication of their new book "Comprendre les Irlandais, guide de voyage interculturel" (Riveneuve editions), French journalist John Reichenbach, who has Irish origins, and Irish photographer Barry Delaney will discuss with us the book and its topics. As Hugo Hamilton puts it in the preface, the aim is to try to understand "what makes the Irish so different and so hard to pin down". It will be a confrontation of visions of contemporary Ireland, of the phenomenal evolution of the country over the last thirty years, of the traditions of modesty and humanity illustrated by a literature that mocks the red herrings of history or the economic miracle, with its forgotten people of globalisation and its love affair with France too. The discussion will be enriched by readings of excerpts from the book and will close with a book signing session.
The event will also be in presence of celebrated Irish writer Hugo Hamilton, preface author, and Gilles Kraemer, publisher of the book and Director of Riveneuve Éditions.
Discussions in French and English.
