Gloria Browne-Marshall presents A Protest History of the United States
Wine reception to follow
Award-winning author, playwright, law advocate, and activist Gloria Browne-Marshall launches A Protest History of the United States, a timely new title in Beacon’s ReVisioning History series. Drawing upon legal documents, archival material, government documents and secondary sources, Browne-Marshall's book explores 400 years of protest movements and rebellion in the United States—and what the unsung heroes of social movements past can teach us about navigating our chaotic world. A Protest History of the United States highlights stories of individuals from all walks of life, backgrounds, and time periods who helped bring strong attention to their causes, reminding us that not only is dissent meaningful and impactful, but is an essential tool for eliciting long lasting change. Brown-Marshall reads and discusses the book before an audience Q&A and signing.
