Book Discussion: Home Away From Home by Chiluba Musonda
6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Tickets Required. Pay What You Like*
Join us for a special book discussion in honor of Celebrate Diversity Month featuring The Museum of Kansas City’s Chief Operations Director, Chiluba J. Musonda. Raised in Lusaka, Zambia, Musonda came to the United States as an international student in 2004 and has since built a career in public service, nonprofit leadership, and museum administration in Kansas City.
During this program, Musonda will lead a conversation about his memoir, Home Away From Home: The Story of an International Students Journey from Africa to America, which chronicles his personal journey from Zambia to the United States and reflects on the challenges and opportunities faced by international students and immigrants navigating new cultures and identities. Through storytelling and dialogue, participants will explore themes of migration, belonging, culture shock, and the rich perspectives that global experiences bring to American communities.
This engaging discussion invites the public to reflect on the power of diverse voices and the many journeys that shape our shared civic and cultural life.
