Join the Even Numbers community this October as we read Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Japanese author Toshikazu Kawaguchi — a moving, imaginative novel about a small Tokyo café where, under very particular rules, customers can travel back in time.

Through stories of love, loss, regret, connection, and the moments we wish we could revisit, the book invites us to think about what we would say if we had the chance to go back — and what it really means to make the most of the time we have now.

Whether you’ve read every page or are still making your way through the book, you’ll be welcomed into an open, thoughtful discussion with fellow readers from around the world.

Food & drinks: Food and drinks are not included in your Eventbrite ticket. Any purchases made at the venue are paid for individually by each guest.

Location: The venue for this event is currently being finalized. Registered guests will receive the confirmed location and any relevant updates via email. Please make sure the email address used for your booking is correct and check your inbox for event communications.

Community communication: We strongly encourage guests to join the Even Numbers WhatsApp community for event updates, community announcements, and future gatherings.

Book: Guests are responsible for purchasing their own copy of Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. You are welcome to attend whether you have finished the book, are still reading, or are making your way through it.

All tickets are final. No refunds or exchanges.

Because places are limited and reserved specifically for each guest, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations, change of plans, or failure to attend.

If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible. Where applicable, we may offer your place to someone on the waitlist, but this does not guarantee a refund or transfer.

If Even Numbers needs to cancel or significantly change the event, registered guests will be contacted directly with information regarding the available options.
