About this Event

We are pleased to introduce our Book Club!

Each month we’ll announce a new pick of a book (or a part of it) that we’ll read right alongside you and other readers. The books we read will span a range of topics — from spiritualism, philosophy, history, religion, relationships, healthy living, science, and more.

So let’s jump right in!

Our Saturday, April, 1st, 2023 Book Club pick is — drumroll please — : On the Sufferings of the World, by Arthur Schaupenhauer.

Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) was a German philosopher who earned the title, “Philosopher of Pessimism,” because of his generally dour views of human existence. Schopenhauer argued that the essence of human existence was characterized by endless striving without any hope of fulfillment—another way of saying, “Life is suffering.”

So what now? First, download the attached PDF - and read.

Feel free to do further research. Then, mark your calendars (April 1st, 2023, we meet at Big Square, Moi Avenue, 4.00 pm - 7.00 pm). We will discuss Arthur Schaupenhauer's views about the sufferings of the world.

Welcome to the Club — it’s so good to finally be here!
