Book a Movie Night

We are working to build a community of lovers for literacy. Each month we will choose a book to read, as a group. Guides and worksheets will be sent to gems that they can use to support them in their critical thinking skills, comprehension, analysis and understanding of the book. We will meet virtually once a week to hold each other accountable for reading through the book and discussing the chapters read. At the end of the month we will come together for a final discussion along with some games and a movie night!

During the movie night gems will be provided with Dinner, snacks, and treats! This month, in the spooky spirit of Halloween, we will be reading (and watching) Roal Dahls, The Witches. When we meet for our movie night, gems are welcome and encouraged to dress up As their favorite character from the book, get creative with their outfits. This will also be a fun way for them to create the images of the characters based on the descriptions in the book.

This is also an opportunity for parents to drop off gems in a safe space where they can go enjoy a few hours to themselves!
