Bonsai Workshop: Ramification and Leaf Pruning

Ramification (branch division) and leaf pruning (defoliation) areessential bonsai techniques used to create dense, fine twigging and smaller leaf sizes, mimicking a mature tree's appearance. By cutting back new shoots to one or two buds, energy is redirected, forcing the branch to split into two, doubling branch count over time.
